Thank you for supporting the Shoshoni Senior Center. The following are the funding sources and collaborations that make what we do possible. This includes our Nutrition Programs, Transportation, Support Services, and all the other ways that we benefit the seniors and community of Shoshoni. Most of our grants require a percentage of local match funding, so fundraising and donations are a necessary part of fulfilling our mission. Thank you!
Ongoing Funding
- Wyoming Department of Health, Aging Division: Title III-B Support Services, C1 Congregate Meals Nutrition Program, and C2 Home Delivered Meals Nutrition Program.
- Wyoming Senior Services Board
- Medicaid Community Choices Waivers
- Shoshoni Senior Citizens Service District funding from a 1.5 mill levy on property taxes, which is voted on every four years. Because other funding has decreased, our Service District has become even more essential for our continued operation. We appreciate the public’s support of services for the elderly of our community.
Local Match Awards
- Wyoming Community Foundation: WYCF connects people who care with causes that matter to build a better Wyoming.
- Wyoming Department of Family Services: Adult Protective Services
Local Income
- Program Income is the voluntary participant contributions for meals, transportation, and support services. Specifically, this money is collected from the gray donation box on our front counter for meals, fares for rides, and the donation boxes for coffee, exercise equipment, and office services.
- Fundraisers including the Street Fair in the fall, the Christmas Craft Bazaar, bake sales, and other fundraisers.
- Individual General Donations
- Business Donations and donations from other organizations, including the Martha Petersdorf Hospital Trust and Shoshoni’s Christmas Club.
- Memorial Donations are donated in the memory of someone who has passed away. These donations are deposited into a separate account and are used for memorial service expenses and board-approved improvements to the Senior Center, rather than general operations.
- Dollar a Month Club is a suggested donation of $12/year to help with costs associated with printing and mailing our newsletter.
- Shoshoni Recreation District #24 rents our basement yearlong to put on their annual Haunted House and other Building Use fees.
- Smith’s Inspiring Donations: You can help us whenever you shop at Smith’s by linking your Smith’s Rewards Card to Shoshoni Senior Citizens Center (organization QX859).
Collaborations
- We are a partner of the Food Bank of Wyoming. They help our budget go further, and we help give those in our community access to needed food and necessities. We generally receive a delivery on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
- Wyoming Senior Services Association: The director of the Shoshoni Senior Center is a member of WSSA (formerly WASPD).
- Atlantic City Federal Credit Union pays for senior meals once a month on “Credit Union Day”.
- Big Horn Water provides water at the Senior Center.
- Cent$ible Nutrition shares information, recipes, and sometimes food with us to distribute to our patrons.
Specific Funding Awards
- We are in the process of buying a 12-passenger bus with funding from Adult Protective Services and the Shoshoni Senior Citizens Service District.
- Rocky Mountain Power Foundation for specific projects, including cleaning supplies at the beginning of the pandemic, replacing office computers, building drainage improvements, presentation equipment, emergency supplies and equipment, and for replacing chairs.
- Wyoming Hunger Initiative awarded us Infrastructure Grants so that we could purchase kitchen equipment and fund our community garden project, additional grocery money, and donations of meat.
- We received money towards our roof replacement from Daniels Fund and Fremont County.
Help us serve our seniors!
We deeply appreciate all of the funding, donations, partnerships, and collaborations that enable us to provide important services to seniors. In short, we could not do this without you!
We are also always happy to help connect patrons with other services that might help them. If you are interested in helping us to serve seniors or to increase our funding and collaborations, please let us know.
Additionally, we have flyers and brochures for a variety of other local information, events, and services in our entrance foyer for patrons and other visitors to peruse.
